I have to go with the Oscar on that one. Pirhana's may have bigger teeth, but Oscars can get bigger than most pirhanas.

I take you word for it. B)

There is one thing about oscars that I have learned.. they are very docile fish. Although they get big, and will eat most things that will fit in their mouth, they aren't the mean fish you thought they would be. Smaller fish, such as 4-5" convicts have been seen terrorizing oscars, pushing them into the corners of the tank and leaving them for dead.
A single pirahna is going to be very agressive. You lower their agression by putting them in groups. I'd say you would put both of them together, wake up the next morning, and find a dead oscar and a fat pirahna.
Just my .02

I disagree, the pirhana would choke to death... lol I'd bet that pirhana's are actually less agressive by themselves.

The pirahna would not EAT the oscar whole, but would terrorize and pester it, nip at it and bite at it until it was so stressed out it slowly died. It wouldn't be a giant gulp and one fish disappears.
I've read a lot about oscars when I thought about keeping one. They are surprising skiddish and shy fish. They are extremely intelligent though. I'd do a little research on pirahna's and oscars.
The only reason that you have trouble keeping pirahnas with anything else, such as a single pirahna and other fish in the tank, is because the pirahna will terrorize and kill the other fish, if it's not able to swallow them whole. If they are kept in groups, they must be well fed or they will canibalize each other.

Yeah, if they were to fight the Piranha would surely win. I have a Tiger Oscar myself and they are very docile and unaggressive for a cichlid of it's size.

Well, I believe I have finally figured out who will win. The oscar tries to flee for about 30 to 45 seconds, and then after becoming tired and disoriented, is then eaten in about 5 seconds.
Hands down, the piranha's would win. The reds aren't even that aggressive. Some of the more aggressive species would probably make even shorter work of them. These piranha's were all about 4" or so and the oscar was about 7 and a half. Big size difference.

I concede the arguement. After seeing that video...

Some say that they have kept oscars with piranhas for a short amount of time. Nothing permanent though. I guess it would be OK temporarily, as long as the piranhas were well fed and fully grown. From what I have read piranha's are very agressive and canibalistic at a young age. Fully grown ones are more 'opportunistic feeders'. So as long as you kept them well fed, I'd say the oscar might be able to last a month or two.
Tough to say though.

Who knows, maybe you could? As long as you keep feeding both.

Agreed, that has been my experience as well. Although they will eat anything that will fit in their mouths, they are really not all that aggressive.

the pirahna would tear the oscar to bits and pirahnas which are kept alone do become more aggressive as they become territorial and see the tank as there's and will not let any other fish or hands  for that matter intrude in there area

Oscars are very docile from what I can see as long as they are well fed. They are surprisingly shy and it takes a good amount of time before they will come out while you are in the room. I'd say if you had a less agressive species of piranha and a larger oscar, and kept them both WELL fed, then I think you could at least keep the oscar in there for a few months.

so as you may have already noticed pirahna+oscar=pirahna or -oscar :)

Pirahna are a shoaling fish and are generally extremely timid and recluse when kept as a single specimen. They are definately not kept in groups to curb aggression, they are way more aggressive as a group.
