Hello!!!??????

Cichlid Commander - April 28, 2006 08:16 PM (GMT)
How much are you feeding it?

Denise_h - April 28, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
I feed them all the same and the rest of them are absolutely fine i know it is nothing to do with feeding or my other fish would be ill aswell, he is the only fish that is ill, he may just look bloated because his scales are lifted up, he's not an overly fat fish or overly bloated just looks it slightly.

Any ideas?

How are your water parameters. This might be a case of dropsy but i'm no expert so check out this link, CLICK HERE is of some one who had similar problems.

Denise_h - April 28, 2006 08:29 PM (GMT)
Sorry what are the water parameters? do you mean like the nitrate and ammonia levels?

Denise_h - April 28, 2006 08:39 PM (GMT)
Oh dear it doesnt sound good does it?

It's probably my fault i cant afford to buy all the things needed to check paremeters i just try to keep on top of it by water changes i have already tried a little salt in the tank.

Is there nothing else i can do?

Denise_h - April 28, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
Do i not deserve any more help then? :(

Hello, this is the first I've on today. A lot of people aren't on until after work and stuff.

Check out this article:
"Dropsy
Symptoms
This disease is characterised by a swollen or hollow abdomen. Swollen areas may exhibit a 'pine-cone' appearance caused by the fishes scales sticking out. Fish may also appear off-colour and listless, and may stop feeding. The swelling caused by this disease may often be mistaken for a pregnant or egg-carrying fish. Gouramies and Cyprinids (barbs, danios, etc) are prone to this disease. "- from a page by Sean Evans

Here's a pretty good lnk with disease info:
http://www.aqualink.com/disease/sdisease.html#internal

Could you give us a little more info:
Temperature?
Tank size?
Tank occupants?
Is the tank cycled?
How long has it been set up?

The more info we have, the better chance we have of being able to help.

I would say its dropsy and it sounds like its in its final stages unfortunatly medications for dropsy dont really work with tropical fish, its very hard to catch it before the fish starts pine coning.

Don't get angry at people for not posting you have to understand that people are not going to jump as soon as you post you only waited 14 minutes.
