Title: Got my 29 gallon running.

Well, I just got my 29 gallon running saltwater. The tank was cycle for one month. There are just some rocks i found outside in there and 3 damselfish in there for display. No gravel yet. I maybe getting some gravel next week or the following week. I was thinking about getting some corals such as torch, hammer and zoo. Live rock is also going to be added. I just need to order a good enough light system first :D .

Sounds good! Now we can compare and contrast tank ideas. :D I just got some green star polyps for mine, as well as two species of mushrooms. I'm getting ready to do some rock decorating right now. I'm going to try and arrange the live rock in a very cool fashion that will still allow me to arrange my corals but still allow the fish room to swim. I'll post pictures. ^_^

Yes. That would be great. I would love to see some pictures. But its going to be some more months before I could start adding corals and polyps. I may try some mushroom in some more weeks of cycling. :D

Well I finally got the sand for my 29 gallon but something went wrong. There were diatoms covering my tank in just 2 DAYS! The tank was fine when there wasnt any sand. What can I do to stop diatioms? Is there any kind of chemicals that can do that?

i did some research and i found that Diatoms or brown/gold algae is caused by the process or the end of the nitrogen cycle. It can also occour when live rock is added and cures or when tank mantinence is neglected. sounds very normal to me. i found that using RO water, an argonite based sand and a high quality sand substrate wil help fid you of this. I might also get rid of the rocks from outside. Freshwater maybe, but for saltwater, i think its just too touchy to mess with.

to let you nkow, i havent ever kept a saltwater tank, so the stuff about the outside rock is solely my opinion and what i would do

Ok thanks alot. I was thinking the same thing too. Since the diatoms are covering the rocks the most.
