One thing, it's not just going to be a fish store. It would be pretty hard to stay in business here without selling dog food and cat food and other such stuff... So it will be an all around pet store... something for any pet owner. So the name shouldn't be specific to fish.

I'm going to un-pin this since hardly anyone reads the pinned posts. Just look at how few reads the dyed fish article has gotten.

I know what you mean Leema. I can't stand stores making an outrageous profit off of puppy farms adn things of that nature. It's going to be pet supplies across the board, and hopefully we will be able to specialize in fish one day, but to get us started, it's going to be a little bit of everything.

Forever Pets ?

Actually, I was thinking of going around to all the humane societies and getting them to bring all of their kittens and puppies for the grand opening, but then laying off of dogs/cats altogether unless we can get a humane society adoption center in there. But for live animals, I was thinking of some birds, mice, hamsters, rabits, snakes, frogs and toads, lizards, chinchillas, and of course fish. I would also love to have some exotics for show purposes only, it would definately help attract some business. But that's a long, long way down the road. Before we even start on all that, we'll have to pick a name. The only thing I could come up with was internet pets, but I don't like it as much since it doesn't really fit a retail store.

For the retail store, I want it to be basically like a zoo (without the much larger animals like elephants and rhinos). But maybe some leemers and stuff, some exotic birds that won't be for sale, snakes that won't be for sale, etc.

So.. it's going to be an online store, retail pet store, small animal refuge, pet adoption center, research facility, breeding operation, zoo, etc.

So basically any name will do. ^_^ :lol:

SM, when you actually open a store...remember to place the address on here :P You should have a section in your store (wen you open it) for forum visitors from the world :P Like forum member from around the World that visits the store, and make sure you have a digicam so you can take pics of people who goes...and have their forum nicks etc on the pics. Would be worth wild for customers to see that you got visitors from around the world visiting your store :D

How about: Mini Zoo or Little Zoo or something... Implying that individuals can come here to manage their own little zoo (as people often refer to their animal clans as zoos).

"Furr, Feathers, Fins, and Skins" ? (but then its getting kinda lenghty- I kinda thing it sounds kinda smooth when you say it)

What I think would be cool for a grand opening would be if you invite the local animal shelter/humane society to bring some pets and like set-up a little station for people to adopt pets for the first few days. That might attract people, and then if they adopt an new pet- they will want to buy supplies from you while they are there!

A have a local pet shop that occasionaly the human society brings like this little trailer that has cages with pets and then they get out the pets and adopt them out from the trailer. Its pretty cool. They usually put an add in the classifieds section in the newspaper's pet column before they do this.

They usually bring out kittens, puppies, and other pets that they think are particulary marketable/adoptable or that their time is running up :(

The pet shops in my are are called "Pet Stop" "Pam's Pet Market" and of course, "PetSmart" of those names I kinda like "Pet Stop" I don't know what their slogan is, but a cool one might be: "A one-stop-shop for all your pet's needs" or something of that nature

ps: how big of a city do you live in? and how many other pets stores are in your area? and do you have any of the big chain stores?

Domestic Jungle :P That would be pretty cool "Domestic" household pets living in a zoo like jungle. You could paint big jungle murals on the walls. :D

You guys are really coming up with some interesting names! In our area, we've got a two PetSmarts, Fins & Skins, Pet Supplies Plus, and one other general pet store I wasn't too impressed with... SM would know the name of it.
