Title: 200G FOWLR conversion to semi REEF
Description: Cool tank at restraunt

Polaris.northstar - April 14, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
Some know about the contract on the restraunt tank but what the heck. It's 200 Gallons (measured and did the calulations) it has a FOWLR setup with 2 pieces of living live rock but I was told it would repropigate the rest. the fish that are in there now are a Blue tang and a Lion Fish. Unfortunatly to someones messing around they put Silver sides into the tank that were frozen for the ray that was in there but that messed up my water and killed the ray and the Hawwian wrasse. I am Livid about that. I have 2 Percula clowns for there with their bonded annome (sp) so that will add a splash to it.

Here's the specs

200G tank with overflows
Gravity 1.022
Temp is 80.1
Substrate crushed coral and sand
Approx 180Lbs of live rock
Wet/dry with a 850GPH sump
Red Sea Protien skimmer (pain in the :?: )
I will try to post some pics soon

Well everything seems good. You may want to raise your Specific Gravity to 1.025. And what kind of light are you using. Are what kind of anemone is it? And others things are a well start off :D

Sounds great, although you might think about adding a couple powerheads as 850gph for 200g tank isn't very much. For a FOWLR tank you want between 10-15x turnover. Also you SG sounds about right, and I try and keep my SG around 1.023. Can't wait to see some pictures. :)

I'd love to have a 200 gallon reef. I'm with everyone else. I can't wait to see some pictures of this thing. What plans do you have for it? What kind of corals are you looking to keep or fish to go in it?

I dont know if it's an 850GPH It kicks alot of water through the system. alot of current on the Upper parts

I found .... I believe it's called a Seio power head, but it's rated at up to 1500 gallons per hour. Talk about a super power head. It's got the pressure of a fire hose. LoL! Flying corals, anyone? Might be right up your alley though if you are looking for extra flow.

Perfectblue - April 15, 2006 04:41 PM (GMT)
You might want to look into how much flow your return pump produces because adequate flow in a saltwater tank is very important. Alot of people with larger tanks use Seios as they pump alot of water. Here is a link to where you can buy them.

THere's no powerhead but there's alot of current from the outflow tubes located at the top, I have to fight with it when I am working with live Rock

I'd check into those seio power heads. I think the most powerful one is like 2700 gph. Talk about a true wave maker. LoL! Can you imagine what the customers that are sitting down to eat are going to think? The food comes and then the power head kicks on and a huge wave comes over the top of the tank?

Whew. Maybe you should buy the smaller one.

I'll stick to whats there. It keeps everything alive for over 2 years so IT cant be bad
