Title: GARRR....
hakkobetta - March 30, 2006 01:18 AM (GMT)
Okay, I take a nap this afternoon.
Wake up.
And marble VT Sophie, has JUMPED over the divider in her tank, and is now flitting about with my new VT male Camo.
She only has a slight nip in her anal fin, but she TORE HIM UP.
I mean, she totally tore the edge of his anal fin all to pieces. Luckily they're only slight nips. They were probably only together for five to ten minutes, but now I have to move fish around again! Egads. Silly girl. Lucky for me she showed the male who was the boss. She's such a teeny little thing, and he's a big male, very aggressive as well. You can't even walk by his tank without him flaring at you.
I'm going to go ahead and give him the whole 2.5. Miss Naughty here is getting her own tank. This is the first problem I've ever had with a divided tank. My other boys have never shown any sign of being bothered by the other male, but then again, they have a blue colored divider they can't see through.
The other thought is that she was skinny enough to wiggle through the divider like a silly head, but I hope she's not that goofy. The previous male would try and bite her through the divider, so she never stayed too close. Guess she thought Camo was going to play nice!
Anyways, just wanted to let ya'll know about my exciting fish day.
P.S. Starvin Marvin is starting to swim around a lot now. He's doing great! He had a water change today, very calm, easy to capture, couldn't be more proud of this little fellow!

I totally got everything figured out, crisis averted and everything. I like keeping Dolce and Gabbana together because they were stored in the same cup at Walmart (which is why I rescued them) so they were used to eachother. They stayed in a glass 2.5 that I made a DIY divider for, well my boyfriend surprised me with another minibow, and I said, hey why not? I moved Dolce and Gabbana into that tank, because they're used to eachother, so there won't be any divider issues. They've been together for months, so they know how to mind their own business, lol. (That sounds a little confusing, they're on separate sides of the tank, lol)
I then moved Sophie and Camo into the DIY divider tank, which has no gaps, and goes atw to the top of the lid of the tank, so no jumping over! Then I moved Amarante, another VT male into the minibow without the divider, and moved my CTs into the divided minibow with the solid wall. Very complicated, but finally done! :D

About two months ago I had a large female who was sharing a tank that had a divider, she got throught it some how and she beat him up so badly that not to long later he died. I tried to keep him alive as long as I could, but threw all my eforts he died. It made me want to cry. :(

Awww! I'm sorry :(
He's not beat up too bad, the fins are already healing. I trust the new divider much more than the other one, since it's been tested by the other two.
I just got some new babies in the mail today as well, and put them in my divided 5.5. One of them has what I think to be a little bit of stress related SBD (probably due to travel), so I'm trying to figure out what to do with her. Her brother is doing wonderfully. I don't think I've ever met a more precocious betta in my life. He has no ventrals, but he's so wee and cute! He's a teeny little thing, I've decided to name him Shrimp. The girl I've named Tansy.
