 Hey tim, welcome to the forum. B)

A word about advertizing other fishkeeping forums here... feel free to do it! But make sure you also add a link in your signature, and post it in the Plug Your Site Here forum. Also, if you'll give us a reciprocal link on your forum, we'll post a button link to yours over on the right side with the others. Also don't forget to put a pin on the member-map, it also let's you put in a website address.

What kind of coldwater fish do you keep?

EDIT: I see I'm a bit late, you already added it to your signature.

Tim - March 28, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)
sorry but what is a recipricol link? and pin on member map? sorry bout that

Sergeant Major - March 28, 2006 03:56 AM (GMT)
A reciprocal link is a link back to our site, as in a button like those to the right on this forum. Here's a link to the member-map: Member Map

Just click your general location on the map, and enter in your nickname on here, and your url and I think a quote, and it posts a little pin or image there that when clicked on, displays your name and website and quote.

you guys seem to have this forum suttup well how do you post the buttons over the side there like the aquarank and stuff like that. with the recipricol thing do you mean i will advertise yours and you advertise mine?

With the original finding nemo skin which one of our members created (Aiwen, props to you btw), it had three vertical table columns, one to the left with the left border pic, one to the right with the right border pic, and the one in the middle with the forum in it. I simply eliminated the left one, and took the image out of the right one, and used line breaks in the table cell to give vertical dimension to it. You have to do it in the board wrappers section on invision forums.

That's exactly what it means. Some sites do advertize others, some don't.

It is at the moment.

Sure, go to the AdminCP, then to board wrappers, then to the footer section, then I put all of my right pannel stuff after this:

CODE
</DIV></DIV></DIV></td><td><font color=58A7D3 size=1>Fish</font></td><td align="left" valign="top" bgcolor="5AA6D6" style="padding:10px;border:0px;">

You should have the same thing somewhere in your footer with the nemo skin... oh, the padding may be different, I changed all that here.

You have to sign up with aquarank, then they will give you the code that will display the pic and link to where your visitors can vote for your site.

Tim - March 28, 2006 04:58 AM (GMT)
ok cool i have already signed up so i will look back at the account details

Tim - March 28, 2006 07:36 AM (GMT)
Wow Thanks heaps Seargent Major!!! Take a look now and you will see the voting things not at the side but near the top. Do you like it?

Cichlid Commander - March 28, 2006 02:18 PM (GMT)

Sergeant Major - March 29, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
I see you signed up with aquaria rater, I didn't think you could with free forums... maybe they changed or something. Either way, we will be moving to a hosted site, so we'll sign up with them after that.

Tim - March 29, 2006 01:24 AM (GMT)
well it says not to but i did anyway weel see how it goes LOL. How did you get your forum to say .com instead of that really long invasion free thing?

We bought a domain name and pointed it toward the invision server.

Tim - March 29, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
how much does that cost?

Sergeant Major - March 29, 2006 01:55 AM (GMT)
There's different options, and different providers. You can do a standard public domain registration for about $3, you can do a private domain registration for between $10-15, and you can do a domain with a hosting package for anywhere from $5-25 per month.

Tim - March 29, 2006 06:28 AM (GMT)
What is this forum on if you dont mind me asking? Is the $3 just one payment or is it $3 a month? thanks heaps anyway sargent major!

Sergeant Major - March 29, 2006 12:35 PM (GMT)
We're on the $3 one... it's $3 per year.

Tim - March 29, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
Thats pretty cheap for a .com domain name instead of mine which is a stupid long thing (http://s14.invisionfree.com/Fish_Info/index.php) where do you go to sign up for it?

Sergeant Major - March 30, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
I think it was yahoodomains.com, but I'm not positive... if you go to your admin CP it should have an invision forum thing up top, if you ask in the general support section, they will tell you where to go.

Stealtherr - March 30, 2006 06:07 PM (GMT)
Welcome and looking forward to your posts

Tim - April 29, 2006 02:03 AM (GMT)
