Title: Welcoming new Members
Description: What do you think?
bartier - March 21, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
Well everyone I have seen on other sites where the moderator of the introductions forum writes up a welcome message for every new member. I was thinking that maybe I should do the same. I have considered a few things such as that some people won't like being welcomed as they don't really want to make posts however I can include in my post that if they don't want to post that is OK and we would just like to welcome to the site. I just see this as a good way to show them to the forum and get them to show us what fish they keep, what tanks they have, etc.

I think yes, but probably wait for 24-48 hours to give them a chance to post their own introduction topic.

That is a good idea. For now I will start welcoming people however I will only continue if the feedback I recieve here is positive.

How do you get AquaTokens?
bartier - March 29, 2006 10:02 AM (GMT)
Winning competitions and recruiting members are two main ways to get aquatokens.

hey i think it is a great idea to welcome new members. On my forum i usually send a pm to the new member saying welcome and hope they enjoy it here and they seem to find it friendly and enjoy it! Go for it!!!!

I like the pm idea... that's a great idea.

I am not to sure. If I was going to use the PM idea I would stop doing the posting one. I don't think I would like to do both.

I use the pm idea because that way its well.....i just prefer to do the pm thing on my forum. its up to you though but dont do both

They are more likely to read the PM than check back on their introduction post imo. The screen pops up letting them know they have a new private message. Just a thought.

Can it be sent out automaticly?
Sergeant Major - March 30, 2006 09:04 PM (GMT)
On here I don't think so, on phpbb I think it can... I think most anything can be automated in phpbb.

bartier, I think this is working out very well. Your initial welcome kicks it off and the rest of us follow suit. It's probably very cool to have just joined and get your own thread with bunch of us welcoming right off.

Yeah you are right, thanks for all the support with this move I have made. Hopefully I can think of some more.
