I figure that if you do a concrete background you can't use a HOB filter. I guess canister only right?

I've read that you can use a HOB filter with the concrete background.

I've seen some pretty intricate setups for incorporating HOB filters into styrofoam backgrounds. You just have to have a way for water to be sucked behind the background, and then have it flow over the top. It's a great way to hide all of your equipment, such as heaters, filters and what not.
