Title: Funny Cichlid Behavior

MAZZA_402 - March 19, 2006 01:25 AM (GMT)
The more I watch my cichlids, as I am now, the more I can tell each one's personality, as well as my bichir's.

Here are a few funny things that I have discovered...

The space under the heater seems to be prime real estate.

The small yellow cichlid has discovered the coconut house, and now rarely comes out. You can see him poking his head out every now and then.

The bichir owns the center log, and is really giving them a run for their money. I'm more worried about the cichlids than the other way around!

They seem to fight every now and then, but when it comes nighttime, they all sleep together under the heater.

I'll keep adding to the list as I notice new things. Share your own experiences, if you have any. :D

I know exactly what you are talking about. I sometimes find myself staring at the tank for hours.

Sounds like they have themselves sorted out and things are working out just fine. Those Cichlids definately have personality. How cool... everybody under the heater at sleepy time. :)

"Under the heater" could be prime real estate or they could be cold. What temp is the tank?

Temp stays at 79 degrees. I like to keep my tanks warm. More active and all. It's a visi-therm stealth heater at 200 watts. Best heater I've ever used and I recommend it to ANYONE looking for a good heater. Two thumbs up.
