Title: Just a general question to the masses
Cichlid Commander - March 17, 2006 02:28 PM (GMT)
If you were able to keep your dream fish what will it be? Just wondering what you guy and gals would say.
MAZZA_402 - March 17, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
We used to have a 2' arrowana, and after he was sold we had a pair of discus for awhile...
I myself would love to have some stingrays. I'd also like to breed jaguar cichlids. I just love the way they look. But as far as dream fish go? How about a sturgeon?
Sergeant Major - March 17, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
Sturgeon definately for me too... unfortuneately my property wouldn't sustain a 5-60 million gallon pond.

For me a jelly fish tank would do it. I seen an exibit at the NYC aquarium one time and they had huge globe like tank full of jellies.
leedham - March 17, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
a red tailed cat a tiger shovelnose or other big tank busting catfish
TJTommy - March 18, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
Hmm, maybe a giant gourami? They are pretty cool.
hakkobetta - March 19, 2006 07:17 AM (GMT)
Hmm...does an Orca count?! LOL!
Actually, I want a super delta male betta, delta male, plakat half-moon male, and regular old half-moon male, lol! I just don't have enough money to buy the ones I want off of aquabid!!
Perfectblue - March 19, 2006 09:23 PM (GMT)
It would have to be a Green Mandarin and Spotted Mandarin Dragonette. Although not tankbusters they are extremely beautiful and very interesting to observe. :)

That's a hard one. Really, I'm more of a small fish person. In a perfect world, I would have lots of large tanks devoted to tetra and cories. just right off the top of my head I would love to have big school of each of the following . . . rosey tetra, emperor tetra, rummy nose tetra, neon tetra, black neon tetra, glow light, cardinal tetra, blackskirt tetra, penguin tetra, lemon tetra, bloodfin tetra, flame tetra, January tetra, featherfin tetra, purple tetra, loreto (or it may be loreta, can't remember which ) bleeding heart tetra and the list could go on and on . . .
of course, I'd want some cories scurrying around in the bottom of all of those tanks
While I'm dreaming, a Massive koi pond with lots of assorted koi - I love solid black ones . . .

A dream tank for me is probably one with a dovi cichlid. They lay lots and lots of egg. And is very aggressive. :P Since they sell one in aquabid.

Those sturgeon fish are heaps cool. Bit of a shame they breed so slowly and it is putting them at risk.
jdizine - March 21, 2006 06:35 AM (GMT)

These two, the leaf fish and the bush fish
bartier - March 21, 2006 06:54 AM (GMT)
They are weird the bush fish kind of reminds me of some oscars I have seen.
jdizine - March 21, 2006 09:50 AM (GMT)
I like them because they are weird looking. I love those type of fish, they are a conversation piece.

yeah they are, I would LOVE to breed them... and... eat them. Sorry bout that, but they are supposed to be the most nutritious fish in the world, and just one would last a couple of years worth of meals. I would do a release program with the rest of them, releasing them into the local lakes, and spreading their range, and numbers.

hmm..... a heated pond with Archer fish, African butterflies, a couple Ornate Bichirs, and a couple pair of Blue Acaras it would be choked with vegatation.
