Title: Air Pump, No Stone(s)
Description: air to the tank(s)

Fake Air Stone(s)

You will need: scissors or razor blade, brad nail or safety pin, connector(s)(for the double), tubeing, hot glue and gun, pump.
If you normally save everything, like extra parts, most of these you already have. I keep everything in an icecream bucket.

You can make a single fake air supply or a double. Here I will show you how I made a double with one air pump. I have two 1G aquariums and only one came with an air pump. I wanted air to get to both tanks and had no air stones.

Lets start at the end, and work our way up.

I hot glue the end of the tubeing (not shown). Then I poked holes in the tubeing with a brad nail. Make sure you test this process, by attaching the tube to your pump as you go along to make sure you don't have too big or too small of holes, smaller holes=smaller bubbles. If you want a long line of bubbles make sure, smaller holes, or holes spaced farther apart. The more holes you have the more air the pump will use. Also make sure you like the effect. I tested mine right in my tank as I went along. I recommend doing this!

Cut the tubeing to length and bury the air end in the substrate. I use rocks to hold it in place because it is not heavy like an air stone. Pesto! Your done!

This is for the double. I cut two pieces of tubeing, and make a small hole in one of the tubes. Make sure it is smaller than the other tube you will be adding. I pace one tube into the hole and hot glue around it. Put enough not to melt the plastic but enough to not let air get through the connection.

I then add my connectors to the air ends of my tubeing. The bottom part of tubeing is attached to my air pump. TEST BOTH ENDS! Add one end in one of the tanks and pinch the other to make sure it is air flowing and vice versa with the other end. If you are lucky they will both work at the same time. If not, put both ends in the tank and the end that is not working needs more air power.
Pinch with your fingers the end that is working untill both ends are sufficient. You can use a twist tie, or rubber band if you need a pinched end. I know they sell those kind of things in the store, but this is as cheap as it gets!
P.S. The blue tubeing connector is actually off of a broken air stone! I told you never throw these parts away! They can be reused, you would be surprised!
Also, the hammer is for those who need it to puncture holes, or those of us who feel like breaking our computer!!lol

In action, though very hard to see. These tanks are the hardest to get a pic of.

jdizine, could you post a pic of the diy airstone in operation? Thanks.

Done, if you would like a closer pic to see better let me know, they would have to be seperate pics though. They are very hard to photo, and the guppies blend in with the bubbles, doesn't help when they always enjoy swimming through them too!

:o Well, note to anyone who wants to try this. It is still working great! Though it needs cleaned just like an airstone, or the air hose itself. Mine are still in action, and the guppies are still enjoying it. They are still swimming through those bubbles!

Just thought I would give an update.
Here is the top 1G...

And here they are as they are seen on my desk...

Note: they are not stacked on one another, and the pics are not that clear, they are hard to photograph.
