Waitng on a ramshorn snail from Ebay seller, to go in my 19l tank, with a 3inch(ish) ranchu... was wondering how strict I need to be about his aclcimitisation?!
Plus does anyone else have experiance of buying snails/live stock form ebay?

All my snails came with plants I ordered and they are prolific little buggers too. I have read an article where acclimating a snail was discussed. Apparently, it is possible for them to carry diseases along. Not sure if any problems my fish have experienced were due to a snail carrier though.

With snails, any type. You need to be aware of Planaria. But since you have a ranchu they should get eaten up. You may want to keep an eye on your snail if you plan on putting him in the tank with a ranchu. I had my larger apples in with my GF variety tank, and they always picked on my snails attenae. I finally had to remove them.

Snails seems not to survive well in my tank. I got 30 or some 1inch koi and they seem to love to peck on them than the food. Is this their natural instinct??

Must be Forever-Mango. Snails are better kept with fish that are small and mor friendly like guppies. I know I put 2 guppies in with my GF and Koi tank and they were gone within an hour. The snails I thought would be safe until I noticed their shortened antennae. Luckily they will grow back but not to full length.

TD, what's the status on your snail?
