Ever wondered what a FOWLR is? Well here's a list of various aquarist abbreviations and their english equivilants.

##g - refers to tank size, ex: 10g would be a 10 gallon aquarium

AC - AquaClear hang on the back power filter
AGA - All Glass Aquariums

BB - Bare Bottom
BGA - Blue Green Algae
BGK - Black Ghost Knife
BI - Betta Imbellis
BS - Brine Shrimp, or Betta Splendens
BTA - Bubble Tip Anemone

CB - Captive Bred, or Copperband Butterfly
CC - Crushed Coral substrate
CSO - Continuous Siphon Overflow
CT - CrownTail Betta

DI - Deionisation, type of water purification
DIY - Do It Yourself
DOA - Dead On Arrival
DOC - Dissolved Organic Compounds
DSB - Deep Sand Bed
DT - Commonly DoubleTail Betta, Uncommonly DeltaTail Betta

FM - Fire Mouth
FO - Fish Only, freshwater or saltwater tank stocked with fish only.
FOWLR - Fish Only With Live Rock, saltwater tank stocked with fish and live rock.
FOWP - Fish Only With Plants, freshwater or saltwater tank stocked with fish and plants only.
FW - Fresh Water, as in Freshwater Aquarium.

GF - Goldfish
GPH - Gallons Per Hour
GS - Green OR Gold Severum
GSP - Green Spotted Puffer
GT - Green Terror

H2O - water

- Halfmoon Betta
HMPK - Halfmoon Plakat Betta
HO - High Output lighting
HOB - Hang On Back filter

JD - Jack Dempsey

KH - referrs to water hardness

LFS - Local Fish Store, this is your neighborhood pet store.
LPS - Large Polyped Stoney coral
LR - Live Rock
LS - Live Sand

MFS - Mutiple Fish Syndrome
MH - Metal Halide lighting
MTS - Malaysian Trumpet Snail, or Mutiple Tank Syndrome

NO - Normal Output lighting

O - Oscar

pH - the alkalinity or acidity of the water
PH - Power Head
PK - Plakat Betta
PC - PowerCompact fluorescent lighting

RD - Red Devil
RO - Reverse Osmosis water (pure H2O with no contaminants)
RO/DI - combonation of both reverse osmosis and deionisation
ROW - Reverse Osmosis Water (pure H2O with no contaminants)

SAE - Siamese Algae Eater
SD - Super Deltatail Betta
SG - Specific Gravity, refers to the salinity of water
SPS - Small Polyped Stoney coral
ST - Single Tail Betta
SW - SaltWater, as in Saltwater Aquarium.

TB - Tiger Barb OR Tuberculosis
TT - Triple Tail

UGF - Under Gravel Filter

VHO - Very High Output lighting
VT - VeilTail Betta
