Well, I'm concerned about the temperature in my one pond this summer. The sides are straight up and down, so I drained it so it's a foot from the top so the turtle I put in there won't escape. That leaves the water level at only 18 to 20 inches. Of course, I need a basking spot for the turtle, but the rest I have in shade with boards, and I plan on puting cover plants in the water. But still, when it's like 100 in the shade over the summer, I'm afraid that it will still get too hot. Plus, it was only a 45 gallon pond to begin with, so it's probably like a 25-30 gallon now, so it would heat up extra fast. Oh, and no fish will live in it, just the turtle and some snails (for food) and some fish that won't live long anyway because they'll be food.
Thanks,
-Stu
Oh, and if your concerned about room for the turtle, he's small and it's only temporary.
For my pond, I'm planning to put ice in the filter when it gets hot in summer... Maybe even get a fan set up outside directed at the surface of the water. There are my ideas for you. :/
