Title: Pond season is getting closer...

So, my brother got a job at the local pond and garden supply center. Can you say discounts? I dunno why he got hired. He knows nothing about ponds. Anyway, it was wicked warm out today so I started cleaning out my old nasty tub pond that will become a turtle pond this summer. So excited to start digging... I will probably get a painted turtle. Not for a while yet, though. Still way too cold. Anybody else have projects they are planning?

Well, I'm actually waiting until winter for my pond - it's way too hot! It looked like it was cooling down, but we've gone back up to 30C+ days for the last week or so. Still waiting!

I would like to try some barrel gardens on the patio. I might put a small pond around my little fountain near my porch steps. Maybe when we all get something going, we can get some posts into the Pond Journals forum.

I've got a 15 gallon above ground pond with fountain that my wife got me for my birthday. I'm going to put our goldfish in it and set it out on the deck. I'm going to try and grow some plants in it. If all goes well, I may just get one and dig a hole in the ground.

I'm going to try and get some work done on my bigger pond project. Hopefully I'll have it done in a year or two. I'm trying to work out filtration and heating it. I'd love to have a tropical pond. Raise cichlids or something.

How warm should it be before you set up a pond? What would be a good time to fill up the old 15 gallon?
