For fish and plants I shop at the local LFS.
For supplies and some plants, I shop at PetSmart. The prices are more reasonable.
For special items, I shop online.

I shop at Petco for fish food, and other supplies, but I buy my fish and live plants at a little lfs around here. I do like to order online though as you can find a larger selection of products.

It depends on what I'm getting-
PetSmart- If it is a pretty standard basic fish -ex: neon tetra They have a really nice warranty on their fish.
Pet Stop- for any more unusual fish- also have pretty good prices on fish food (they will actually order special request fish where as the chain stores won't do that)
Supplies- Either petguys.com or aquariumguys.com
Beware: on some supplies- PetSmart will rip you off and attempt to convince you to buy things that you really don't need! Why do they charge that much? people will pay it

I try to patronize the mom and pops as much as possible. I will NEVER buy anything aquaria related from Walmart. I have bought stuff at Petsmart. But I am about my fish like I am anything else...take care of the little guy.

petco, aqualand, bigals online....... im pretty fortunate to have a qualand around me- i think there are only 2.

I hear you. I try and buy everything that I can from my LFS, especially my fish. I'll shop petsmart on occassion for fish that my LFS doesn't carry. For specialty items, I order from www.petsolutions.com or www.drsfostersmith.com.

I have to also agree. I do it as much as possible but lately I've noticed that the petshop hasn't been taking care of the fish so I had to change my game plan.
