Title: my pond sucks!

Mitternacht - March 7, 2006 11:06 PM (GMT)
My pond sucks...
the deepest its been is up to my shoulders (and I'm 4'11'')!!
and it always dries out to nothing!! <_<
I can't keep fish in it!
The only things that can live in it are:
Water Scorpions
Diving Beetles (and their ugly laravae...)
Frogs and Tadpoles
Dragonflies and Damselflies

I've tried keeping:
Bluegill
Minnows
Carp
Yellow Bullhead

no luck! <_<

I wish there was a way to keep it from drying up!

Here's a pic of it when it was its highest.

It looks nice, though. You could maybe try re-routing some storm drains or something. A friend and I did that once to get a pond of ours going. Now there's a constant stream running through. Got a couple sunnies in there.

This is coming from a person with absolutely 0 personal experience with ponds, but this was a recommendation from a friend. I am wanting to build my own pond and was unsure on how to keep the water level up. He recommended, if possible, to dig below the 'water line'. He said it would always keep the pond filled up. I haven't fully researched it yet, but I'm talking with my brother-in-law who is a contractor about how to properly build my pond. I'll be sure to let you know what I find out!
