Stealtherr - March 6, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
Now be honest when you eat fish of any sort sushi, and such do you feel guilty? Replys well be interesting...
CatLover - March 6, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
The funny thing is, I just don't like the way fish tastes.
The only seafood I really eat is shrimp. No, I don't feel guilty eating shrimp. I'm sure that there are some shrimp enthusiasts out there that are ready to attack me . . .
jadefoodog - March 6, 2006 03:44 AM (GMT)

You are the same as me catlover. I just hate the way the fish smell when u chew on them. I also love shrimps too(as in eat). And I have a really crazy shrimp friend. He would choke me and you to death if he found out we ate a shrimp today, or even squished or it died on it's OWN in the tank. He would surely blame us.

LOL you guys are funny I like that well I do eat fish MMM but I feel bad after thinking of my fishies... :(
bartier - March 6, 2006 05:23 AM (GMT)
i love fish guess i am a bit hypocritical but i must admit i don't get too attached to my fish i guess maybe if i tried to train them like some people do then i would become more attached however it just doesn't happen once my dad suggested that when my oscars get too big we should eat them that was the line
Cichlid Commander - March 6, 2006 05:40 AM (GMT)
well in my case being allergic to shellfish all I could say is, THEY GOT LUCKY! As for fish they call me The BLUEFISH and STRIPED BASS COMMANDER. LOL. B)

Fish are food. Big things eat little things.
Sergeant Major - March 6, 2006 06:44 PM (GMT)
There's nothing better than cornbread covered fried bluegill fillets... fresh caught of course, then soaked for 30 minutes in brine.
Of course, there's my second favorite, chilean sea bass, then my third favorite, largemouth bass fillets covered in milk covered with bacon pieces and fried onions.
My mouth is watering already, and I have kept bluegill in an aquarium. I would again, too, if I had a big enough aquarium... hey you know what? Maybe that's what I'll do with the 150g... bluegill and crayfish... that would be cool... maybe a young largemouth bass, too... but he'd grow too fast and end up eating the bluegill at some point.
As you can tell though, I don't feel a bit guilty for eating fish... just like I don't feel guilty for eating chicken or eggs, even though I like chickens. Humans were meant to eat some meat in our diets.
bartier - March 6, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
I own Chicken and I also eat them. I own fish and I eat fish. I am not doing very well am I.
Cichlid Commander - March 7, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
Wow chicken I understand but fish, Hmmm! <_< LOL.
BTW i've heard people in the pet store talking about grilling some oscars.

I don't eat animals. I'm vegetarian.
I've considered feeding my dead fish to my dog, though. Any harm in that?

I don't know... I wouldn't eat your own tank fish though, one case of tuberculosis would be enough to ruin a good dinner... not to mention red pest...
Exactly, HOW sure are you of your water quality again?
CatLover - March 7, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
Yeah, don't feed any dead fish to dogs and cats. The fish can have diseases that may not affect us, but could affect our pets. Probably harmless, but why take the risk...
bartier - March 7, 2006 10:57 AM (GMT)
plus there are lots of small bones in fish which would be very bad for dogs.
Christopher - March 7, 2006 11:25 AM (GMT)
I really DO think of my fish when I eat sushi....but still, the worst thing to come to terms with was this summer.....I LOVE fishing...and catching them with hooks at first really screwed with me, but I got used to it and also thought about how OUR aquarium fish are actually "food fish" to ppl in the native countries of the fish....but ya, I see where you are coming from....it is an uneasy feeling whehn you really think about it.........
I think I will post about this on ultimatebettas and thatfishforum.....I would also like to see the reaction!
bartier - March 7, 2006 11:36 AM (GMT)
The only thing that almost makes me feel bad is that I don't feel bad about it and everyone else does.

Dogs are made for handling bones!
Glad I haven't, now. ;)
I just feel so wasteful throwing out dead fish, that's all.
bartier - March 7, 2006 10:25 PM (GMT)
I throw mine in my backyard dam usually (most of my fish haven't died from disease but from bullying from my oscars) I would just throw them out anyway so I figure let the fish have a fish feast.

I love to eat fish of all kinds, even sushi, and I don't feel guilty. I don't eat four legged animals though, which would make me feel really guilty. I would never eat an aquarium fish. That scene in A Fish Called Wanda where Keven Kline eats the fish just to taunt Michael Palin -yuck!
Stealtherr - March 8, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
LOL got more replys than expected the outcome of this has been really great everyone and thanks, all this posting makes me feel better that I not the only one out there.....BTW what I do with my dead fish is bury them
CatLover - March 9, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
Okay, I'm stupid. What does the abbreviation BTW mean?
Have any of you seen that movie- I think its called "Jungle to Jungle" where that kid makes a shish-ka-bob out of that guy's aquarum fish? The kid is from some island and visits the city and lives in this house with this guy that keeps fish?
Pretty funny! would have had to see the movie to know what I'm talking about.
Stealtherr - March 9, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
Wow it's been a while but I have seen that movie I know what your talking about...anyways sorry for the abbreviations...BTW=By The Way, ATM=At The Moment, ASAP=As Soon As Possible..those are the ones I use the most if you see my posts if it bothers anyone a PM to ask me to stop wont bother me I like honesty :)
againstallodds - March 11, 2006 07:47 PM (GMT)
I eat fish, poultry, beef, pork, mutton, rabbit, venison, etc...I feel no remorse and don't really understand why anyone would. I hunt and fish as well and I eat what I kill and catch.
