bartier - March 5, 2006 05:00 AM (GMT)
sometimes when someone adds a large pic you have to scroll across to read further and the scrollbar isnt coming up on my screen i will find an example in a minute is this because of somethign wrong with the site of my browser i am running mozilla firefox 1.5.0.1 does anyone know how to get the bar back it is really becoming annoying
bartier - March 5, 2006 05:06 AM (GMT)

I know what you are talking about because I find that annoying also but just click on the refresh button and they will go basck to size.
bartier - March 5, 2006 05:33 AM (GMT)
that didn't do anything???
Leema - March 5, 2006 07:08 AM (GMT)
Check your settings. You may have turned it off by accident. :)
(Yay! I made it into your screen shot. :P)
bartier - March 5, 2006 07:19 AM (GMT)
that is what i was thinking however i don't think there is an option unless i can't find it because i have looked if no one else has any ideas within the hour i might send an email to mozilla
jdizine - March 5, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
did you figure it out yet? I don't have that problem but I hate having to scroll across to read period. I think we should have a limit of how wide to have our pics. I always just go 600 pixels wide.
Sergeant Major - March 5, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
Anybody have any ideas on how to put a limit on it, without moving the whole forum to a hosted site using PHPBB?
bartier - March 6, 2006 06:05 AM (GMT)
and as a mod i can edit posts to change the size of the photo however because of this i can't get to the edit button either
Leema - March 7, 2006 03:35 AM (GMT)
Haha! How's that for irony?
Mitternacht - March 7, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
I've never seen that problem here...

Sorry, Bartier, I couldn't resist. :)
I can't figure out the problem though. I don't have it now, but I've seen it before, though not here.

Ok everyone... when flaming bartier in the introductions forum... make sure you post a large picture! HA HA! Just kidding, I can still get to the edit button in IE.
Anyway, how would you edit a large picture to reduce the size without taking the picture out of the post?
FishyFry - March 8, 2006 04:17 AM (GMT)
bartier, I googled "browser scroll bar missing" and there are a few hits relating. One in particular was from someone also using Firefox. At last check, he had still not found the cause.
[Edit:] Ok, so I found some hits for IE without a horizontal scroll bar as well. I googled "missing horizontal scroll bar" and "firefox missing horizontal scrollbar" and got a few more hits. Make sure you are using the latest version of the browser. Meanwhile, you may be interested in this..

Fishy Fry thank you I will do some searching myself and I also will check for updates now.
Sergeant Major I just realised I was thinking about saving the pictures then adding it back in but then when you posted that I realised you can't add pictures in the edit menu. Well at least I don't think you can. It was a good idea until that came up. :)

By the way fishy fry that link isn't too safe I don't think. My browser blocked any installations from it (i got this message at the top of the page "To protect you computer, Firefox prevented the site (perso.wanadoo.fr) from installing software on you computer") so everyone should steer clear of that site in my opinion.

I just realised when i click on the rolling button for scrolling on my mouse I can scroll my moving the mouse and it goes across as well. So I am all set thanks for the help everyone.

hmm.. neither my browser, firewall, nor my Spyware Doctor picked up anything on that link. You might have your settings a little tighter than I do on the browser.
againstallodds - March 11, 2006 11:35 PM (GMT)
It's the board. I found a pic in a thread just like you described. I tried it with IE, Firefox, and Opera. No dice.
SM...you can limit the size of pics by going to your admin control panel. 640x480 seems best.
MAZZA_402 - March 12, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
I'll check into reducing the picture size. Seems like a good idea. I know I've been kind of lax when posting my own pictures. I just upload into photobucket and then copy and paste the link. There is a setting on my digital camera that allows me to change the resolution. I may start taking my pictures with the smaller resolution. Hopefully that will help. Meanwhile, it's off to the admin CP!
bartier - March 12, 2006 10:38 AM (GMT)
By CP do you mean control panel. How do you administrate that?
Sergeant Major - March 12, 2006 02:11 PM (GMT)
I don't think there is a function for this in invision forums... however, I did find a script that should help a bit (at least with the first image posted in the thread.

SM, for the picture resizing, can't you just resize them? I mean aren't you kinda like the head honcho of the deal? I personally just take my photos to Microsoft digital image starter and resize the image. It was software that came with the camera I think. I open it up get the pic, and resize using pixels, 600 width, then it just automatically does the height. Took forever for me to figure the program out but I never have a picture too big. And Mazza could really use the resize button for the DIY section going on. It is too hard too scroll and read and understand and just a pain! :?:
