Title: [22nd Feb 06] Koi Fingerling Photos

Forever-Mango - March 3, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
Here are some photos of some of my koi I took on the 22nd Feb 06. They are all around 10cm and are bred by a breeder in Sydney, Australia. They are currently in a 1,500ltr pond right now and will be in a 10,000ltr pond soon. They are many changes from the day I brought them back, Im overall impressed :) Further changes have developed and I will post updated photos soon.

these things keep getting better and better how big do they get?

Bout 100cm+ but that takes ages.

My friend (also the breeder of these koi) has a 81cm Yamabuki Ogon and its currently just older than me by a few months...! Its 21 years old so far!

How long for them to reach that size, Forever-Mango? (100cm)
How long do they live for? I've heard 200 years. :o

Beautiful fish. The orange on them is so vibrant.

I think over 25 years in a huge pond. They live for along time...longer than humans, so guess they guys will be my best buddies at my place :D

Amazing, no wonder large ones cost so much...

Do you think the orange spots on them will turn red, or stay orange?

Forever-Mango - March 6, 2006 12:06 AM (GMT)
The bloodlines on my Kohaku are when they are small they are orane, but the older they get the more red :D

After seeing that they probably will look better darker. By the way you had me fooled for a second. :)

Actually that's how koi really look when they are grown up... it's just a pic of an already grown koi, rather than those fry that are being raised.

bartier - March 8, 2006 08:02 PM (GMT)
I knew they looked like that but I figured he was showing us by colouring in his own fish with paint. That is what I get for talking about a fish I know nothing about. lol
