Title: Possible new Smilies
Description: Yay or nay

Should we switch to using smilies like these, or stick with the originals (note: switching to smilies like these would require changing the reading pane to a white background for them to display properly).

Hey they look great but the smilies we have now are fine imo. Would they be that big when you post them? because they are kinda large. :)
Sergeant Major - February 23, 2006 04:25 AM (GMT)
well, it would be something more like this:

They are cool, but they are a bit big for my personal liking.
Here are the ones on my own forums. It's a horse and dog forums for an online game, hence some are horses or dogs. Most move, but not all.

Some of these are a bit useless, but most are actually a bit revealing of how the individual feels... Y'know? I find these two: :$: :?: Quite useless... They could easily be expressed by just going: $ or ?
Something like this: B) says "I'm cool", which is obviously more 'full of meaning' than a :$: ... I hope that I've made some sense. I'm a bit incoherent, sorry.

yeah i prefer the smaller ones but lots of em
jadefoodog - February 23, 2006 04:39 PM (GMT)
bah i hate when the post page is overrun with smilies
cant you have them on some page and have the URL to them and have people use them as images.
it would make them less likely to just spam them to up thier post count. im sure you have seen the post that consist only of a smiley.
the current smilies are fine for the post page please dont add any more to that part.
bartier - February 23, 2006 09:16 PM (GMT)
i like the smilies they help show what you mean at times when you can't describe it
Leema - February 23, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Smilies do not necessarily have to be added to the left of the reply screen. You can set them to 'invisible' - and when people click 'Show All' they'll come up.

in tht case i wouldnt care. there is another forum that has a billion of them
CatLover - February 24, 2006 02:18 AM (GMT)
I prefer the smaller smilies like we have now. I also like the thumbs up and stars.

That is true, but I did find out that even if they arn't showing up, it does take longer to load the page... I was just thinking about replacing some of the more basic ones... ones that really don't have much use... like: -_- <_< ^_^ :$: :?:
I don't see those being used very often, so I think we might as well get rid of them... then I saw those others, and thought they look really good... only problem is that they are not transparent.
bartier - February 24, 2006 05:34 AM (GMT)
is there a way someone could edit them so they are
FishyFry - February 24, 2006 10:41 PM (GMT)
I like the smilies we have just fine. No problem removing ones that aren't used often either.

I tried, but it comes out horrible... either you're left with white jagged edges, or you end up with transparent spots in the smiley...

I do use the first three, but not the last three! Don't take away my shifty smilie! <_<
All those listed are transparent. Some have the white dots. If you want me to send you any, let me know.

How about some of the smiles from archerysite.net
archerysite smiliesOne of the mods was in the army if you couldn't tell :D , but some are more expressive than what is here currently.
bartier - June 10, 2006 06:53 AM (GMT)
I can't see what you mean
Bronz cory catfish - June 10, 2006 07:41 AM (GMT)
ultimate bettas has more great smilies than we do. time to get more!! that would be nice  :music:
bartier - June 11, 2006 07:57 AM (GMT)
When someone just puts a post with a smiley it doesn't matter because if they are gone someone would just write something small instead of the smiley anyway.
