Title: pop-up

fnesr - February 20, 2006 06:44 AM (GMT)

Getting pop-up for login or registration even though I'm allready logged in. Also got pop-up to apply for a U.S greencard this morning upon login :( .

Does it happen every time, or only once?

I added what's supposed to be a one-time popup so that new guests will get a reminder to register. But after that it should set a simple cookie on the user's computer that tells it to not open up anymore after that first time. I wasn't really sure though if we might have any issues with it continuing to open every time for some people, so let me know if that's the case and I'll eliminate it.

I just saw an ad a minute ago for free fishing tackle. Pretty funny for a fish website.

Unfortuneately GeoCities puts their own popups on their pages, which makes it even worse for a popup page to link from... We'll see if we can't find a diff. host for that so we don't get the double popup.

I receive it on every page load on my work connection but that may be due to some weird server settings my end. I have been getting the secondary ads though aswell last few visits to the site (and I don't want a U.S greencard, I allready have a pretty good job in Australia :( ).

Ok, well you won't get it anymore... If you were getting that, then odds are someone else was too, so I took it down completely.

Ok :) ...what if I change my mind and need a greencard though?

Trust me, it's not that easy to get one... The bureaucracy of the INS/BCIS/Dept. of Homeland Security... knows no bounds. But if you do want one, ask me, I can tell you how to apply... and how to actually get something done.
