Title: Set up my pond today!

Leema - February 18, 2006 07:04 AM (GMT)
Here's some shots of my pond. No fish in it yet, but it will have 3 shnubkin goldies, 10ish white cloud minnows and 7 hillstream loaches, when the time comes. (It's about 50 gallons give or take.)

We still need to work out a better way for how the plants are... The big papyrus kept blowing over. <_< So it's all bricked up.

Questions welcomed. :)

Here are some more shots! :woo:
The large papyrus is a real pain. It's looking all droopy now - it's not happy with its move from the garden centre to my pond. Blargh. Hopefully, as it gets new growth, it will go upright!

Looks cool Leema

why don't you put it in the ground

Leema - February 21, 2006 11:18 AM (GMT)
Three reasons:
There's no where to put it in the ground.
I want to take it when I move out.
I won't be able to siphon if it was in the ground.

Thanks fnser. :)

Looks great, Leema!

Are you not worried about the loaches or minnows jumping out? I tried to do a 15 gallon indoor 'pond' once. My two convicts decided to take a leap of faith. It was a temporary situation and didn't have a top for it. My wife bought me a 'above - ground pond' for my birthday. I'm going to wait til it warms up to set it up.

Your fish are really going to enjoy that!

The only fish I've ever had jump were livebearers. I'm going to wait and see if they jump... I am a bit worried, but I'd rather leave it uncovered - so I'm going to try my luck as is and, if I have problems with jumping, then try an alternative.

I hope my fish do enjoy it in there! :D

Wow really nice pond you have there. Im going to go buy myself a family pool which I'll construct into my own pond pretty soon. That pond would be a very good place for cichlid with those pots:p Well I am jealous of that pond too

i wouldn't risk a jump but then again i don't know how to stop them from sure there are ways with ponds though

It's full of algae now! :P

I need to get some fish to start eating it. Haha. :)
