Title: Fastest Panda Cory EVER

CatLover - February 16, 2006 01:46 AM (GMT)
A few minutes ago I moved my 2 pandas out of my 10 gallon and into my 29. I've caught a lot fish, and I have NEVER had a chasing experience quite like the one I just had.

Well, I catch 1 panda like in the first swipe of the net.

So, 1 more to catch. Thinking that I would catch the 2nd panda just as easily, I stuck the net back in the water. We usually don't expect to see our catfish moving that fast, but it was incredible. This panda actually jumped out of the water when I finally got the net under him. This was a 10 gallon tank, I was not expecting any issue.

Anyway, now both pandas are busy exploring my 29 gallon. I'm surprised that the 2nd panda didn't have a heart attack or something.

Prior to this, the most drawn out fish catching expedition I had ever had was trying to catch my "top of the pecking order" blue long-finned danio out of my 29 gallon. If you have ever had blue danios, you can relate. This guy was fiesty.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE SPEED OF CATFISH!! :D

Has anyone else had any really fast catfish or other fish catching stories? B)

my raphiels, god are they hard to catch, I have to use a glass becase they have a ton of spines on them, It took me 2 hours trying to catch my biggest one (now dead :( ) of 8 inches, they are goofy, they squeak quite audibly too, cool fish though

I've spent 30 minutes trying to catch baby bristlenose catfish before. <_< They're a ripe pain.

When I was moving my fish from my 3ft to my 5ft, the hardest fish to catch were the bottom feeders - the SAE, the bristlenoses and the bronze corydoras girl.

The bristlenoses we managed to drive into pots, and then we picked the pots out of the tank, as once they grab onto something they don't let go, even when out of the water...

The SAE was jumping over the net when driven into the corners. My mum was catching him, and she some how blocked his jump at one point, and knocked him into the net... We had previously tried to catch him, about 3 months before, and gave up. (We had decorations in the tank, and it was too hard.)

The corydoras I was scared I was going to lose, she got so stressed. She wasn't too hard to get, but she's my favourite, so I was very scared of catching her. ^_^

Danios... fast little buggers. It usually takes using two nets.

When I had to catch that one blue danio, I had two nets and then had someone else holding a larger net and finally I was able to drive him into the larger net.

That blue danio was my psycho danio who started killing the other danios in his school.

For some reason this danio was a little larger than the other 5 danios.. And he knew it, too.

:o

They were all long-finned blue danios. Has anyone had an agressive danio experience?

Leema, at least you had the explanation of a very large tank to make catching more difficult.

I have no excuse for difficulties catching a fish out of a 10 gallon!!! :D

Anyway, the two little pandas seem quite happy with my other cories, so the effort was worth it.

This isn't a fish catching story, but this week I moved my feeder breeder tank to a stand in front of the window (yes, I LIKE algae, at least in that tank). Well the sun was out, and it shined in the tank onto some of the feeder guppies. I have never seen fish freak out quite like that. I'm guessing these fish have never seen the sun or sunlight. Anyway, they adjusted well within about a minute.

Heron's don't have a hard time catching anything.

 Yep, I've always found catching everything in my 10gallon a breeze - even bristlenoses. ;)

In my 10 gallon though, when I had black widow tetras (temporarily), I could hear them smashing against the glass when trying to catch them. :o I felt so bad.

I spent 25 minutes trying to catch my Feather-Finned Catfish. That little bugger is sure speedy!
