I don't know if a sump is 'worth it' on a tank of that size. I wouldn't do it - too much bother.

Wet/dry are the best filters you can buy. If you'd like to give it a try to provide your fish the best environment, then by all means, give it a try. It's only too much trouble if it's too much trouble to you. I'd upgrade to a 10 gallon sump, though. Probably easier to work with.

If your tank is not pre-drilled, you will need to purchase an siphon overflow. That's where your money can go right out the window. From what I hear they are pretty expensive. I'd like to wear my new AquaClear 70 w/ skimmer out before I go to a sump, though.
