Title: Can't wait for spring!
FishyFry - February 11, 2006 04:46 PM (GMT)
I was glad to see that a few pond related forums are included in this site. I had a very small "pond" in my birdbath last year, and now I am hooked... albeit limited on space. This spring, I am looking forward to setting up a couple of patio pond gardens. I have a small fountain near the entrance to my house and I would like to build up a small pond around it as well.

We have some land we are getting ready to build our house on. It has a very large pond out front that I would say is about 5-6 feet deep. I'm wanting to dig it out to around 10,000 gallons. I don't think thats too big of a pond. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
I'd like to put in a nice liner and add some lighting so you could see the fish.

I'd love a large pond, but right now I live in a Manuafactured Home park, so yard space is at a premium. I have a small rectangular patio that I can put half-barrels on. Beyond that is the easement between the park and the next property of homes, and which must be kept open or free of yard "things". Besides, the utilities run underground there. The area by my front steps is maybe 4x3. This is large enough for a mini-pond. No fish, though. The neighborhood cat would eat 'em up in no time. Even with a protective netting, I just picture the cat ripping the thing apart. sigh.

a moat would be nice... fill it with Pirahnas, right? Definately wouldn't have to worry about the cats eating the fish... might have to worry bout the other way around.
I have wanted to do a water feature in my yard, but I just can't think of anything to do, so I'm hoping someone here will give me some ideas before the end of this summer.

:D That looks tight! I have about a 200G pond outside and my hubby cemented it in for me last year. By the time it was complete we had only a few days to enjoy our new fish... :( we brought them inside and I am kinda happy! They are getting real big and just in time for the pond! We have one koi and 6, ST (single tailed) goldfish, 1 oranda, and 1 ranchu. I plan on them prospering alot more than in the 29G they are in right now. They NEED the extra room! Though this coming winter I will have to invest in a heater. My pond is only about 3-3 1/2' deep.
:) This is the 29G tank of fish we plan on adding to the pond
