Title: Inexpensive Filter Cartridges
Description: Recent discovery!

For the past few weeks I have been absolutely dreading buying anymore expensive filter cartridges for my penguin 200 filter. While at Wal-mart the other day, I noticed that they sold the SAME CARTRIDGE, but under a different name, for a fraction of the price. For example...

I buy my Penguin 200 catridges for $4.97 a piece.
Wal-mart sells a 6 pack of the same cartridge for $9.97.

Now, to put that into savings....

4.97 X 6 = $29.82 (Forgive me if my math is wrong.)
OR 6 @ 9.97 = $9.97

$29.82 - $9.97 = $19.85

Thats a TOTAL SAVINGS of almost 20 dollars!

This is especially important for those of you who own Emporer 400 filters and have to buy 2 cartridges a month. Just thought you might want to know that there IS a cheaper alternative. Buy the same exact filter from REGENT instead of MARINELAND.

So go ahead, save some money. Spend that 20 dollars on something else for your tank. :D

You can also get pretty cheap filter cartridges online from petguys or aquariumguys. Shipping is pretty cheap, too.

I've switched from floss to regular generic bonded filter material. Saves me alot of money.

Just to say what I have started doing... I bought the latge canister of charcoal, and the batting as afore said. A litttle more work? No more than we actually do! Put the charcoal in the bottom of the filter, and then add the batting, and you got good filtration, if not better in my opinion.
