Title: SURVEY - All Members and Guests

MAZZA_402 - January 23, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
This survey is going out to all Aquatopia members and guests. This will allow the Administration team to point our forum in the right direction as far as future updates and content are concerned. Please be honest in your response, and please post a reply as to WHY OR WHY NOT you chose the choice you did.

Thank you very much for your participation in this survey!

I chose needs improvement due to lack of info on some profiles. The most recent ones i've seen only have the scientific name and barely any other info.

Sergeant Major - January 23, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
Which profiles?

erin - January 24, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
I think it looks great! I love the finding nemo skin!

Mitternacht - January 24, 2006 12:21 AM (GMT)
needs some improvement.

AiWen - January 24, 2006 01:06 AM (GMT)
I chose needs some improvements because:
1. Members should be able to post their own profiles for fish, not only admins.
2. Why not expand the forum a bit, at some subcategories into fish talk or just make some new forums just of the fish species.

As for everything else, the forum is good ;)

Guest - January 24, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
Sounds good. I appreciate all of your replies. We are in the works for some more forum ideas as well as fish profiles. We are trying to add content, and then categorize it. You are welcome to post profiles for fish, and after we review them, we will pin them and put them in our fish profiles section. Feel free, if you know something about a species of fish, to share with the forum. We would all greatly appreciate it.

Of course our forum is in the beginning stages, only being a few days old, so be assured more content is on it's way!

I just wanted to explain why we did some of these things...

1. We chose to do it that way because of two reasons... not being familiar with ipb, I wasn't sure what the security ramifications for turning on doHTML were for everyone to allow proper formatting; and second, because the fish fact sheets are only meant to be a quick reference to help aid in the fish talk discussion. Certainly anyone can write an article on a fish that describes everything a person would need to know to own them, and we'll be happy to pin it. But the fast fact sheets arn't really meant to contain quite so much information, just some quick facts that people can go back and look up when they're discussing different fish. I apologize that they arn't nearly done yet. I'm only about 1/8th of the way into getting them all up. I started to get burnt out on doing them, so we kinda went public a bit early.

2. We didn't want to have so many forums that no one gets quick replies. However, as we grow in members, we may add more forums. Certainly the number of forums we have now would be too few to accomodate 10,000 members... but we only have 11 right now, so for now we felt it was better to consolidate a lot of the forums. In many of the other forums I've visited, I found that most members only talked in 2 or 3 forums anyway, because that's where everyone else was.

True...good idea..

MAZZA_402 - January 24, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
Although I may be good, I'm not NEAR as talented as the fish dressed as a banana.

flamingonhot - January 24, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
Lol kk.

I was just wondering because I went to the ornate and sengal sheet and all i saw was scientific name and they need cover and plants or something like that. I was like ok....lol.

Mitternacht - January 24, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
and invertebrates.

Octoberfest - January 25, 2006 01:04 AM (GMT)
i noticed someone with the rank of __________ Rasborah. theres no H on the end. i forgot what type of rasbora :D

Mitternacht - January 25, 2006 01:21 AM (GMT)
yeah, someone spelled it wrong!

Sergeant Major - January 25, 2006 01:48 AM (GMT)
Harlequin, and thanks... we need to re-do the whole rankings anyway... It doesn't exactly move up the food chain very well, it jumps from saltwater to freshwater and back again.

flamingon hot - members are encouraged to post in-depth articles about the fish. We thought we should do just a quick reference guide with some basic information like temp. range, ph range, omnivore/herbivore/carnivore, KH range, etc. because as we were doing some research, we found a lot of sites that were very critical of aquarium forums due to incorrect information of these basic things being posted. I'm not sure which one you were looking at that didn't have all of that basic information in it. I've gone back and checked the ornate and senegal sheets and they all have that info on them... so I don't know what to tell you there.

We will add a quick-link sheet to get to the fact sheets you're looking for faster once we finish all of the fact sheets, but as of right now, we're only about 1/8th of the way through them. Sorry it's so difficult to get to the ones you're looking for at the moment. We're working on it.

As far as the articles go, I would definately encourage you all to write some on the fish you know about. I plan to write one on guppies, since I have a lot of experience with them. We're going to start another sub-forum for the articles (and will add links from the fact sheets to them as they are made) once we start getting some posted.

At the moment though, progress is a little bit slow, as I am going to be concentrating on re-doing the disease sheets. We kind of rushed through them in an effort to go public a little bit earlier, and they are greatly lacking. Unlike the fast fact sheets, the disease sheets should be done in detail. So for the rest of the week I will probably be concentrating on putting more details in them.

Sergeant Major - January 25, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
By the way Spartan, I added a link to Fins on the left side. I used your banner and cropped and resized it. If you don't like it, I'll be happy to take it down or replace it with something else.

Also, you may want to re-size or crop the image link in your sig since it pushes the forum over due to it's length.

Needs improvement - just general tidying up with some buttons and banners not matching the skin and the banner (up top) not looking very professional.

Sergeant Major - February 7, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
I thought that banner looked pretty good for 5 mins working on it in MS Paint... :D

Polaris.northstar - February 7, 2006 05:22 AM (GMT)

It might look good for a 5 minute job, but it still looks like a 5 minute job.
