Anyone planning a pond this summer?
We have a small pond that was existing when we purchased the house. I personally think it's in a horrible location, as every tree in the yard sheds it's leaves into it. It was not maintained for at least four years before we bought the house two years ago. There are no fish or filtering devices in it, just the black pond liner.
Would it be better to build a new pond and fill this one in? Any recommendations on "how-to" sites?

A pond should be located where you can enjoy it. Overhanging trees help shield the fish from the sun, but this can also be accomplished with plants. As far as what is better, it's up to you, especially when it comes to cost. Trees will add to the upkeep in the end, as you mentioned, but leaves can also contribute to the biotope.
