Title: I want to be an astronaut
Description: when I grow up...

You know, when I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up. I even enlisted in the marine corps as a combat engineer because more mission specialists (the specific job I wanted as an astronaut) were USMC combat engineers than any other MOS or branch of service. But you just can't say "I want to be an astronaut when I grow up" without getting some strange looks now.
Being an astronaut used to be one of the last, truely honorable jobs you could have. Like a supreme court justice, or President (prior to Nixon)... if you held those positions, everyone knew you had some serious strength of character. But not anymore!
So, thank you very much, to the crazy lady astronaut who took another stitch out of the moral fabric of our country... at least this opens up a whole slew of new NASA jokes...

Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled about it either, but the longer the world is spinning, the crazier it gets. Seriously though, I don't think it was enough to put a dent in what everyone before her, man or woman, has accomplished by being an astronaut. I don't think the image has a bit of tarnish. Too many of the good guys have made too much of a success for the space program, and for humanity, for one crazy lady to put a ding in it. But I do seriously wonder about the selection process. I am not so naive to think that this stuff doesn't happen more than we are aware of publicly, because astronauts are human too. But that's just the thing... she made it public. She didn't have "The Right Stuff". That's all there is to it. Yeah, I'm one of the believers. No worries Sergeant Major.

I mean, I've heard the idea that we should be sending convicts to space in place of chimps, but COME ON! :D

NASA obviously forgot to give one of the female astronauts a full psych eval... and she tried to kill the girlfriend of another astronaut that left her for the girlfriend.
