It is always sad to see news stories like this. It shows the darker side to our hobby. Unfortunately irresponsible pet owners will always exist, and continue to do things like this:

When fish like this are relased into the wild, they have a tendancy to rapidly multiply and use up all the resources that the natural fish would have, because these transplants have no natural enemies in their new environment. Please let's all be responsible and A: don't get a pacu unless you have a 300+ gallon tank, and B: don't release any aquarium fish back into the wild. If you absolutely must get rid of a fish, I don't know of any local fish store that wouldn't take a donated fish.
