Is 2 jack dempseys good to be in a 55 gallon and what bottom feeder like algea eater cna go with dempseys. Can u give me some info like how many caves i need in the 55 and if i should use sand or gravel any plants? i really need ur help im getting a 55 gallon full setup filter heater hoods lights for 160 is tht a good price.

I think 55 gallons should be enough however don't hold me to that I found it on some minor sites and I believe some people on this site would have a much better idea. As for the tank set up it all depends on how good the products are that come with it. For example is it a HOB filter or internal filter as a HOB filter would do a much better job.

Personally I think two dempseys would like a seventy-five a little bit better, and then you could possibly add a compatible cichild to go with them. From what I understand they're aggressive and they get really large, upwards of eight inches.

Bottom feeder wise, some sort of pleco, a bristle nose or rubber lipped might be a decent choice of bottom feeder. Three or four otos would do the job nicely as well.
