Well, I am Starting on a cleaning crew for my 29 tank. So far I have 3 margarita snails and 4 hermit crabs. I'm going to grab about 5 more crabs and 4 more snails. After that I am going to be getting maybe 1 brittle star and 1 emareld crab and also a sand dollar. Sounds good?
The way I like to add my cleanup is add them as you need them meaning if they are taking care of the algae, debris, etc then I wouldn't add anymore. I like to have a variety of snails and maybe 2-3 Hermits. Here are the inverts I like to have:
Astraea Snails
Cerith Snails
Margarita Snails
Strombus Snails
Nassarius Snails
Scarlet Reef Hermits
Cleaner Shrimp or other similiar shrimp- Great for eating leftover food
Crab of some sort(I have a Strawberry)- Also great at eating leftovers will eat algae also
If you have a sandbed I would invest in a few Nassarius snails as they are great at stirring up the sandbed. I have never heard of having a silver dollar in a home aquarium so I can't say whether or not they are good or not.
Ok, Thanks. I'm just starting to have a little bit of hair algae and I have heard that Margarita snails were good, and also hermit crabs, so I decided to get some.
